Oil & Water Do Mix...

Sorry about the delays in writing but the weather has been atrocious, so what has the weather got to do with stopping me writing on this blog?  It has been raining for what now seems like ages and the riding season has well and truly come to an abrupt stop.  We did manage to get out last weekend and whilst being extremely cold and me undertaking an impression of what can be best described as woolen Assassins Creed warrior (much to Jane’s amusement) we did manage to get out.  So? The blog?

Rain, copious amounts of it day after day, provides a great opportunity to stay in the workshop and I have come to realize that this has a benefit, especially in winter to garage builders. Jane, Mike, Rhino, Ray and myself are all spending time building bikes and desperately waiting for the early rays of Spring sun shine to come through. As it does, the flag will go up and we will all ride until the chequered flag of winter comes down once again. Rain brings with it the opportunity to get oily hands so the two mix, but even I must admit there does come a point at which all I want to do is ride.

The shovelhead project has come along leaps and bounds over the last months: new bearings, stainless
steel fittings throughout, new wiring loom (out with the single circuit breaker and in with four) and brake-lines sized and fitted.

The rolling chassis is all but there so really does need liquids and the finer points of charging a battery and then go through the wiring once more for a complete check.  I am currently six days behind plan, an aggressive plan I set myself in order to remain focused and to get ready for the next project, that I will need to make space for otherwise I will have unhappy customer on my hands – sweetheart.

A couple more weekends of rain and maybe I will be done, end to end a thoroughly enjoyable ‘ride’ that has taken me sixteen enjoyable weeks to do.  Do not sign off just yet as I am not that complete.
